Presenter : Femi Ibiwoye

Femi Ibiwoye was born in North West London and grew up in Nigeria. With both parents working in a university in northern Nigeria, education was a very competitive business. With a microbiologist father and a teacher for mother, he appeared to be heading either for a career in medicine or academia.

Surprisingly the young man decided to veer off the anticipated career trajectory and chose Architecture which was a good compromise to his Dad (as he expected Femi to read medicine). Following his interest he emerged with a B.Sc (Arch) from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and a M.Sc (Arch) from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Bushy-tailed and bright-eyed the young man grabbed a suitcase and hopped onto a plane landing at Heathrow on a cold February morning to settle in the UK. The UK was then gripped in the throes of a difficult recession which had hit the building sector very hard. Having been in a succession of education institutions, Femi decided to kick-start his working career one-way-or-the-other.

Femi has worked in the civil service, charity sector, publicly owned blue-chips, operated his own limited company and been a sole-trader.
